FAQ

What's the difference between HMO, PPO, HDHP?
HMO: in-network only, lower cost. PPO: out-of-network allowed, higher cost. HDHP: high deductible, lower premium, HSA-eligible.
Why is total cost more important than premium?
A low-premium HDHP can backfire if you have a major medical event - the deductible kicks in before insurance pays much. Compare total expected annual outlay.
What about network coverage?
This tool doesn't model in-network vs out-of-network differences. If your doctors aren't in a plan's network, that plan is effectively useless regardless of cost.
Disclaimer. Plan details are complex. Verify with your benefits administrator. Network coverage matters - this tool doesn't fully model in-network vs out-of-network differences.
