Which minimum applies - state, city, or federal?
The highest of the three. If your city minimum is $18 and federal is $7.25, you must be paid at least $18.
What's the tipped minimum?
A lower minimum hourly rate for tipped workers (servers, bartenders) - but with the requirement that tips plus the tipped minimum equal at least the regular minimum. If tips fall short, employer must make up the difference.
